R&R completed a four year, £25 million investment programme at its Leeming Bar factory increasing production capability by more than 20% and making the site the world’s second largest ice cream plant. In spite of the increased production, changes to the energy supply and treatment of effluent meant the site’s carbon footprint actually reduced. Much of the product waste is now taken to an anaerobic digester.
Capitalising on the nation’s love for mini ice lollies, R&R extended its portfolio of Nestle handheld minis with the launch of Rowntrees Randoms Minis which combine marshmallow flavour ice cream, a fruity shell and a jelly centre in one mini handheld product.
Determined to bring an exciting mix of flavours to the UK sharing tub category, R&R also unveiled Cadbury Dairy Milk Marvellous Ice Creams in four innovative flavours: Jelly Popping Candy, Zingy Raspberry Choc brownie, Salted Caramel & Sour Cherry and Fairground Candy Crunch.
